Deep Waters Sanctuary exists at the intersection of lived experience, formal study, and ancestral calling. It was not created overnight. It was grown into.

As a conjurer by bloodline, Iya Origbemi's relationship with the spirit world began long before any formal initiation. She has been knowingly communicating with spirits since the age of three. She is clairvoyant, clairsentient, clairaudient, and claircognizant — able to commune with spirit directly, without the mediation of divinatory tools. She is what is known as a veil walker. One foot planted in this world, the other in the realm of spirit. This is not something she learned. It is something she was born into. Her initiations in Ifá, Egbe, and Olokun within the Isese tradition — and as a Yaya in Palo Mayombe — did not create these gifts. They gave them structure, responsibility, and covenant, while unlocking aspects of her natural gifts she had not yet known were there, deepening both her knowledge and her abilities in ways that continue to unfold.

To support and deepen that calling, Iya Origbemi pursued formal academic study. Her formation began at an institution rooted in African psychology — one that taught from the start that western frameworks alone were insufficient for understanding the fullness of human experience. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's in Counseling and Human Systems in the early 2000s, already oriented toward the intersection of mind, culture, and spirit. That orientation led her to earn a PhD in Metaphysical Science with a concentration in Spiritual Counseling, bringing both worlds together with equal rigor and integrity.

Due to the current landscape of spiritual teaching being full of noise, misinformation, and those who profit from keeping people dependent. Deep Waters Sanctuary was created as an alternative. A place where you are taught to think, discern, and practice for yourself. Where the goal is never your continued reliance on a teacher but your own informed,

grounded autonomy.
